Day 18 | Death – DEFEATED || Jesus – VICTORIOUS

Elder Anita Ray

“People of Israel, listen! God publicly endorsed Jesus the Nazarene by doing powerful miracles, wonders, and signs through Him, as you well know. But God knew what would happen, and His prearranged plan was carried out when Jesus was betrayed. With the help of lawless Gentiles, you nailed Him to a cross and killed Him. But God released Him from the horrors of death and raised Him back to life, FOR DEATH COULD NOT KEEP HIM IN ITS GRIP.”
Acts 2:22-24 (NLT)

Christ’s execution had been carried out in public before many witnesses. If Christ had not truly died, Peter’s message would have been laughed at or ignored. But Peter and the apostles had witnessed the risen Christ.

Our faith and our credibility also rest on the truth of the empty tomb. It means that His sacrifice for sin was acceptable to God, so we can be completely forgiven. It means that our Savior is alive and active, able to help us in times of need. It also means that one day we, too, will conquer death.

Reflection: As we observe this Season of Lent, let us rejoice in our “victorious champion”, who broke the grip of sin and death!

Confession: Dear Lord, I pray that we will be eternally grateful for Your willingness to die for our sins; and endeavor, by Your grace, to live our lives in praise, glory and honor to You.
