Day 20 | Qualified by the Blood

Helena Afordoanyi

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2:13 (NKJV)

We often measure ourselves by our family ties, educational background, qualifications, intellect, social circles, successes, level of influence, and neighborhoods, among others. Many years ago, there were two groups of people on earth: the Israelites (the chosen ones) and the Gentiles (the non-chosen ones), determined by bloodline. This separation was so stark, that even Jews and Samaritans were not allowed to worship God in the same sanctuary.

Ephesians 2:12 describes all non-Israelites as

  1. You were without Christ
  2. Aliens from the commonwealth of Israel
  3. Strangers from the covenants of promise
  4. Having no hope
  5. Without God in this world

This is the current definition of anyone who is not in Christ.

But by the blood of Christ, through His finished work on the cross, we who did not qualify and were aliens to the many promises, have been qualified simply by believing. Ah-mazing! We can now call ourselves chosen, royals, priests, holy and peculiar. We can bask in that knowledge and exude that light into every area of darkness.

Our bloodlines have been changed simply by believing and accepting the Lord Jesus Christ and Lord and Savior, and thus entitled to enjoy all the blessings of Abraham.

Meditation: As we go through this season, thank God for sending His Son, whose finished work on the cross now qualifies us to enjoy the many blessings of Abraham. Walk in the knowledge that you are qualified for every blessing by the blood! Hallelujah!

Confession: I am qualified for every blessing of Abraham by the blood!
