Day 4 | Who is a Christian?

Yemi Banigbe

He came to the ones who were His own, but His own did not receive Him but as many have received Him, to them He gave the power to become the children of God.
John 1:11-12 (NKJV)

Are you a Christian just because you were born into a family that practices Christianity? Or is it because you pray over your food and go to church on Sundays?

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In 5 days He created everything in the heavens and on the earth; then on the sixth day, He created man and woman and gave them dominion over everything He created. In the cool of the day, God would come and fellowship with them.

But something tragic happened; the enemy came and stole this dominion from man. Man lost everything.

However, the story does not end there. God came down in the form of a man, and took up our sinful image.

He was killed and buried. Yet, the story still didn’t end there.

He went to hell, stripped the devil of his power, took back the dominion and restored man back to fellowship with Him.

Being a Christian is believing that God came in the flesh to restore our dominion and relationship with Him.

Prayer: Lord, I believe that You came in human flesh and died for me. I confess Jesus as my Lord and I receive into my life everything He did on my behalf. Amen.

Praise God, I’m a child of God!
