Day 7 | Raised from Death to Life

Bernie Owusu-Yaw

But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-6 (NLT)

Sin came into the world through Adam and death came through sin, as the wages of sin is death (Roman 5:12, Romans 6:23). Therefore, we were all subjected to death through Adam and born into the kingdom of sin, death, and darkness (Colossians 1:13). But praise be to our Lord Jesus who has delivered us from this kingdom through His death on the cross. Jesus has broken the power of sin and death over our lives and raised us to life.

We were once dead in our transgressions and sins, and we were enemies of God. Yet even while we were enemies of God, Jesus reconciled us to God and restored our broken relationship with Him (Romans 5:10). We can get so caught up living our daily lives that we sometimes forget where we came from, we forget the magnitude of what Christ has done for us. If not for the grace and mercies of God, only He knows how some of us would have ended up. We are always asking God for more, but we often fail to recognize what He has already done.

What is more valuable than the finished work of Jesus on the cross? That is where true wealth, healing, deliverance, and victory resides- all in the cross- all in the finished work of Christ.

Reflection: Pause and take some time to reflect on the benefits you have received through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Thank You Jesus, for paying the price for my salvation and for delivering me from the kingdom of sin, death and darkness. I praise You for the gift of eternal life and for the privilege of being able to have fellowship with you.
