Day 9 | Salvage Product

Timothy & Christine Matturie

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?
John 11:25-26 (NIV)

When we look at the history of the cross and what it symbolizes, all we see is suffering, pain, agony, disgrace and rejection. Then we remove the veil and see that the death of Christ on the cross shows how much He loves His creation; so much to the point that He laid down His life to salvage them back to Himself.

In these verses (John 11:25-26), Jesus offered a remarkable promise, a promise that transcends the boundaries of mortality. He assures us that belief in Him grants us a life that extends far beyond our physical existence.

Even in the face of a physical death, there’s a deeper reality at play, the reality of a spiritual life that remains unshaken. For God has never done anything for the fun of it. There is purpose for every decision He has ever made. Right from the beginning in Genesis, He created Adam, breathed His spirit into him and commanded him to manage the earth. Adam and Eve rebelled and sinned against the creator. What they didn’t know was that the Manufacturer already had a plan to salvage His creation in case of defect.

Jesus loves us so much that He (i.e. the Creator) came into His creation to save us from eternal death and the lies of the enemy. He gave us back what we lost in the beginning – the Spirit of truth so that He can teach us all things and lead us to Him who gives eternal life. He is the Lamb of God that was slain before the foundations of the world.

Reflection: Are we truly grasping the profound truth behind Jesus’s declaration “I am the resurrection and the life,” understanding that our faith extends beyond earthly confines to embrace eternity? Are we ready to anchor ourselves in His promise of eternal life even in the face of physical death, finding comfort and strength by wholly trusting in Him?

Prayer: Gracious God, with hearts full of gratitude, we thank you for the promise of resurrection and eternal life through Jesus Christ. Strengthen our faith Lord, and deepen our trust in you. Fill us with a peace beyond understanding, knowing that in Christ Jesus, nothing can separate us from your love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!
