Day 29 | Resurrected High Priest and Mediating Executor!

Elder Cam Edey

He entered the holy of holies once for all by his own blood, not by the blood of goats or calves, securing our deliverance for all time…Where a will exists, the death of the one who made it must be established. For a will is valid only when people die, since it is never in effect while the one who made it is living.
Hebrews 9:12, 16-17 (CEB | CSB)

When we look at our Lord’s resurrection, we also are connecting His works afterwards in heaven. After all, being raised from the dead to do nothing would be incomplete. We’d have our sins paid for through His death, but so much more would need to be done. And with that I’d love for us all to prayerfully acknowledge two powerful roles our Christ has taken on after the resurrection and ascension.

As the picture in Hebrews 9 describes the Old Testament narrative of Moses establishing the blood of the covenant that God ordained, the writer then speaks of the similar actions of Christ’s work in the greater and more perfect tabernacle of God as the Real High Priest forever.

This is saying that God appointed Christ as High Priest and has approved of His own Son’s death by His resurrection which then qualifies his coming into the eternal tabernacle carrying the full payment of all our sins by offering His own blood, sprinkled upon the mercy seat. Our first verse says “for all” in two places. The first is Christ entering the most holy place once “for all” by His blood. So everyone who comes to God can rest assured that their sins are covered by the blood of Christ. The second is securing our deliverance; obtaining redemption; setting people free; “for all” time!

Just in case you need assurance, look at how the mediating executor’s role in verse 17 works in your favor!! A will comes into effect when the person who made it dies. However, praise to Jesus!! In His resurrection He has become the mediating executor of His own will to execute it completely to its fullest. That’s right!! As the High Priest he offered His blood once for all; and it freed us for all time (this qualifies us as beneficiary). As Mediating Executor whatever is in the will is being handled by the same person who has presented his blood as certificate of validation for all those who the will has been made out to. And remember you are now an heir of God and joint heir with Christ!!

Reflection: Let the Father speak to your heart the words “for all time you are secured, delivered, redeemed, set free!” Is Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior? Then you are entitled to the contents of the will Jesus has bequeathed in full agreement to the Father’s predetermined will.

Prayer: Father, we open our hearts to You today. Right now, at this moment, we take this time to allow You to speak to all that is in our hearts. Would You show us in a clear and undeniable way the truth of Jesus’ blood being offered and accepted by You to secure our freedom from all sin. and that You have poured out, lavished on us such a bestowal of an inheritance that is forever ours in Christ. We believe what You say about us in Christ’s work as High Priest and Mediating Executor of our new life of freedom; and the amazing promises in the will Jesus has written for us that was covered by His blood. In Christ Jesus name. Amen
